Blast from the Past, Mentors to Many

Before AFP (or its former incarnations NSFR and NSFRE) had chapters in our region, a group of development officers formed their own networking and professional organization.  Circa 1983, shown here are members of that original group at a luncheon function that would eventually be considered Philanthropy Day. 

John Shafer (seated far right) and Frank Pasquini (standing far right) are still members of our local AFP chapter thirty years later and, as our most seasoned members, have provided countless hours of counsel and mentoring to dozens (or more!) of fundraising professionals through the years.

Mar 30 - Director of Mission Advancement
Reporting to the Dean, the full-time Director of Mission Advancement will oversee all aspects of mission advancement efforts at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary located in South Canaan, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities include annual giving initiatives, major and planned giving programs, capital campaign efforts, administration, and reporting of department efforts to Dean, Rector, and Board of Trustees. Qualifications and Attributes -Five to seven years of direct fund development/mission advancement experience; -Bachelor Degree required; Master’s degree is preferred; -CFRE a plus; -Excellent oral/written communication and relationship-building skills; -Strong computer skills required and fundraising database/software experience is a definite plus; and -Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher; Experience working in GoogleDocs helpful.
